What Do The Performance Nutrition Plans Look Like?
Initial Consultation
The first thing we will do is set up a consultation with every patient. We need to know every detail, no matter how insignificant, to aid us when setting up your individual profile.
We need to know your fitness history, lifestyle, preferences, likes and dislikes, allergies and issues alongside your stats, such as DOB, height, weight etc.
We will then create a profile that we will use to track your energy intake and expenditure, keep your notes and track your progress. Once we have an agreed plan in mind, we will then look to initiate a dietery analysis.
Dietary Analysis
We will walk you through how to do a 5-7 day dietery recall. This is where you log each and every meal and snack for a set period. This is generally around 5 days and we like to include training days, race/game days and rest days. We need to see you at your worst, eat what youy would normally eatand try not to eat what youy think we'd want you to eat.
We are on had through this period to answer any questions you may have and keep you on course with your daily dietery tracking.
You can use a number of methods, My Fitness Pal, one of our apps; SENPRO or Nutrium, we even do paper recall from time to time if tech isn't your thing.
Review, Report and Future Interventions
Your individual profile is now filling up. We have your diet and exercise data, your personal stats and we can now begin to review this data and report back to you with our findings. This will be in the form of a detailed .pdf report and review appointment to explain it all with you.
Within this report, we will set out your daily energy needs, with a breakdown on needs dependent on expenditure. Your daily needs will be broken into marco nutrient needs, total calories and an explanation into why, taking into account your sport and general goals.
We will then generate a weekly mealplan via our SENPRO app. This will be a food first report including all meals and snacks across a 7 day period. It will lione up with your lifestyle in terms of timings and your ability with food.
What Next?
We don't just leave you here. We feel this is the starter and we will look to support you through your journey. We will help to educate you, answer all the questions you may have, and we expect there will be many.
Nutrition is complex and simple at the same time. The messages we read daily often both confuse us and lead us down the wrong path.
This is possibly where we do our best work and try to educate you as you progress. The more you know, the more questions you will undoubtably have. This is where our review appointments come in, this is where the real progress happens.
